Piano Atlas Studio — Privacy Policy
Effective 6 October 2026
This policy explains what the Piano Atlas Studio app for Android ("the app") does with information. The app is published by VibeCoder1337 ("we").
What the app stores, and where
The app keeps the following on your device only, in the app's own storage:
- your settings (theme, sound, spelling, and the like);
- your favourites, saved progressions and the songs you write in the Composer;
- your practice history, streaks and progress;
- whether you have Pro: a record of your Google Play purchase (its order number and date) or of a trial code you entered and when it ends.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android's settings, deletes it.
What the app does not do
- It does not ask you to create an account or sign in.
- It does not show ads and does not use an advertising ID.
- It does not use analytics, crash reporting or any tracking.
- It does not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, files or camera, and it does not record sound.
- It does not send anything to a server of ours; we do not run one. (A backup to Google Drive goes to your own Google account, and only when you choose it.)
Purchases (Google Play)
Pro is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment and your payment details; we never receive them. To know whether you own Pro, the app asks Google Play on your device, and Google Play tells it whether this Google account has bought Pro, with the purchase's order number and date. That answer is kept on your device only. Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
A MIDI keyboard or digital piano
If you connect a MIDI instrument, the app reads the notes you play so it can light them up and show them on a staff. The notes are used on the device while you play. They are kept only if you choose to record or save something, and then only on your device.
The microphone
The Note Trainer, the Staff Trainer, Sight Reading, and Play's Echo and scale practice can listen to a real piano. Only if you tap "Listen through the microphone" does the app ask Android for the microphone permission, so it can hear which keys you play.
- The sound is measured on your device as it arrives, to find the pitch of each note, and is then thrown away. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, and no one, including us, can hear it.
- What the app keeps is only what it would keep if you had tapped the keys: whether each answer was right, in your practice history on your device. If you record a take in Play while it listens, the notes it heard are kept in that take as notes (which key, and when), never as sound.
- It listens only while one of those screens is open and listening is on. It stops when you tap "Stop listening", leave the screen, or the app goes to the background, and the next time you turn it on yourself.
- You can refuse or withdraw the permission in Android's settings at any time. Everything else in the app works without it.
Backups you make
If you use the app's backup feature, it creates a file with your settings, progress and songs, and hands it to Android's share sheet. Where that file goes is your choice (for example, your own cloud drive or an email to yourself). The app sends it nowhere by itself.
If Android's own device backup is turned on, Android may include this app's data in your device backup to your Google account, as it does for other apps. That backup is run by Google under your account; we cannot see it.
Backups in Google Drive
If you choose to back up to Google Drive, the app asks Google for access to one thing only: its own private folder in your Google Drive (Google calls this the app data folder). It cannot see, open or change any of your other files, and the folder does not appear among them. The app puts the same backup file there that "Save a backup file" makes, keeps the five newest and deletes older ones, and reads one back only when you ask it to restore.
The backup travels from your phone to your Google account and back. We never receive it and cannot see it. With automatic backup on (a Pro feature), the app does the same once a day, and only if something has changed. The access Google gives the app lasts a short while and is not stored. You can disconnect in the app, and remove the app's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling information differently, this policy will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
